A 46-year-old woman from Patras lost her life in a fatal traffic accident on the afternoon of Friday, August 21, near the Kato Achaia junction on the old national highway connecting Patras and Pyrgos, as she was making her way home from work. The victim, Eleni, was the mother of a 25-year-old daughter who lives abroad. Her relatives were notified of her death following a demanding identification process.

Meanwhile, the Patras Traffic Police filed criminal charges against the 53-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved in the head-on collision. According to information from tempo24 and preliminary findings by the authorities, the 53-year-old driver allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane, triggering the collision with the 46-year-old woman’s vehicle. The accident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m., near a restaurant in the Kato Achaia area. Eleni had just finished her shift and was on her way home, according to pelop.gr. Initial findings indicate that the 53-year-old was heading toward the regional unit of Ilia when he allegedly veered into the opposite lane, resulting in the head-on collision between the two vehicles. Due to the severity of the impact, the 46-year-old’s car left the road and caught fire. The woman became trapped inside the vehicle and was burned alive.
The 53-year-old sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized under police guard at the University Hospital of Patras. The Traffic Police have taken over the investigation into the accident, examining evidence gathered at the scene as well as potential witness testimonies. The goal is to establish the precise sequence of events that led to the collision.
