Seven-year-old Patricia is set to depart for Chisinau, Moldova, on the morning of Friday, August 14, after losing her parents and her six-month-old baby sister in a devastating road accident in Halkidiki. The young girl has been receiving treatment at Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki over the past several days and, according to Moldova’s Honorary Consul, Giorgos Palazis, she will be transported back to her home country in an ambulance dispatched specially from Moldova.

A four-member medical team will accompany Patricia throughout the entire journey, remaining by her side and closely monitoring her condition during the transfer.
“The transfer will be carried out using a specialized ambulance sent from Moldova specifically for this purpose, traveling from Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki to Chisinau, with a four-member medical team in attendance. The medical mission will be led by Dr. Dumitru Carasic,” Honorary Consul Palazis stated.
“The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Thessaloniki wishes to emphasize that, in this deeply painful moment, the tangible support shown by the individuals and organizations who stood by Patricia goes far beyond the bounds of simple duty or institutional cooperation. It represents a genuine expression of humanity, solidarity, and respect for a child who has faced an unspeakable family tragedy,” Palazis wrote in his post.
The same post also noted that “the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Thessaloniki extends its sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all the people, doctors, nursing staff, professionals, and organizations who contributed, each in their own way, to this effort. The solidarity demonstrated by Greek society, and particularly by the people of Thessaloniki, sends a powerful message of humanity that greatly honors the bonds of friendship and solidarity between Greece and the Republic of Moldova.”
The timeline of the deadly Halkidiki crash
It is worth recalling that the Moldovan family was on vacation in Halkidiki when, on July 15, their car was involved in a head-on collision with a tanker truck on the rural road between Polygyros and Agios Nikolaos.
The 28-year-old mother and the six-month-old infant died at the scene, while the 35-year-old father passed away just a few hours later at Polygyros Hospital.
The seven-year-old was transferred to Papageorgiou Hospital with serious injuries, where she underwent surgery before being moved — intubated — to the Pediatric ICU at Hippokration Hospital. She was subsequently transferred back to Papageorgiou Hospital.
