A 22-year-old is hospitalized on life support at the University General Hospital of Patras in Rio after being seriously injured in a car accident that occurred on Tuesday evening in Lechaina, Elis.


Lechaina: How the serious accident occurred
The accident happened when a car driven by a 27-year-old, under unclear circumstances, veered off course and crashed into a stone wall on the road leading to the Lechaina Fishing Shelter, according to ilialive.gr.
The 22-year-old passenger was critically injured in the collision, while the driver sustained minor injuries. Fire department units rushed to the scene to extract the occupants from the vehicle, along with EKAB ambulances that transported the injured to Pyrgos Hospital.
Due to the severity of his condition, it was decided to immediately transfer the 22-year-old to the University Hospital of Patras under police escort to ensure quick and safe transportation.
The 27-year-old driver, who left the hospital after receiving first aid, was arrested as he reportedly did not possess a valid driving license.
