Authorities are in full investigative mode, with officers from the Organized Crime Division working to solve the mystery surrounding a woman’s body discovered inside a suitcase in an abandoned building on Evelpidon Street in Kypseli.

The next steps involve collecting DNA from the body for identification purposes, as well as conducting toxicology tests. Further clarity is expected to come from both the forensic examination of the remains and the results of the autopsy, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 20.
According to information from Mega, the forensic examiner’s initial macroscopic examination confirmed that the body had not been dismembered, as it was found intact. The victim is described as a petite woman, approximately 1.60 meters tall. She was wearing black shorts and a black top, had reddish hair tied in a bun, and bore no visible tattoos.
Furthermore, according to the same sources, the forensic examiner estimates the time of death at approximately five to seven days prior, though he has not ruled out the possibility that death may have occurred several days earlier. The body shows no visible signs of physical abuse — no abrasions or bruises that would indicate a struggle. There also appear to be no knife or gunshot wounds, and no visible skull fractures.
Missing women’s files to be reopened
Once investigators receive the results of the forensic tests, along with findings from the Criminal Investigation Division — which visited the building and collected fingerprints, DNA samples, and other evidence — files on missing women will be reopened. On Saturday, the forensic examiner was unable to provide further details about the body, as it was in an advanced state of decomposition. However, he did not rule out the possibility that the woman may be of Asian origin.
As a result, authorities will also examine whether the remains belong to a 50-year-old Chinese real estate agent who went missing on May 20 from Artemida. The woman’s husband has been notified of the development, and officers are expected to visit his home to collect DNA from the missing woman’s personal belongings in order to determine whether there is a match with the body.
Homeless man discovered the body — CCTV footage under review
It is worth noting that the suitcase containing the body was discovered by a homeless individual who noticed the foul odor and alerted police. The body had been placed inside a fabric bag, which was then sealed within the suitcase.
Police have collected statements from local residents and retrieved footage from security cameras in the area. The video material will be reviewed to identify whether anyone was seen moving suspiciously with a suitcase in the surrounding streets in the days leading up to the discovery.
