An alarm was raised on the afternoon of Monday, July 6, on Mount Parnitha, when a 50-year-old woman fell into a ravine approximately 20 meters deep while hiking near the Bafi mountain refuge. The emergency call to 112 was made at around 3:00 PM, immediately triggering a major rescue operation. Thanks to the woman’s rapid geolocation, 18 firefighters were deployed to the scene alongside the Mountain Search and Rescue Team of the 1st EMAK unit, with additional support from the Hellenic Police.

According to initial reports, the 50-year-old was walking along a trail near the mountain refuge when, under circumstances still unknown, she lost her balance and tumbled into the ravine. Rescuers managed to locate and extract her — injured but conscious. She was then handed over to an EKAB ambulance crew, who transported her to hospital for the necessary medical treatment. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation.
