Nearly 200 beach chairs and umbrellas that were set up on Gerakini beach were removed by the Municipality of Polygyros in Halkidiki. The operation began at 6:00 AM with a municipal truck, a JCB excavator, and a 4X4 vehicle, in the presence of Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection, Vasilis Fardogiannis.

Several beachgoers failed to respond to the previous warning, resulting in last-minute scrambles to collect what they had left on the beach once they noticed the ongoing operation.
“Beaches belong to everyone”
Vasilis Fardogiannis stated: “The beaches belong to everyone. We will not allow unauthorized occupation of the space by anyone. According to the Property Service, the umbrellas and beach chairs being collected are treated as waste.” He emphasized that similar actions and operations will be carried out on all beaches within the municipality.
