A dog ate a pufferfish at Kaloi Limenes beach in Heraklion, Crete and died shortly after, according to a heartbreaking post shared by its owner. Maria Kaloudioti warned of a “new danger” lurking on Greek beaches, as she and her family mourn the loss of their beloved pet. According to the owner, the dog died just half an hour after tasting a washed-up pufferfish — a species that has become the greatest threat to beachgoers and, as this tragic incident proves, to four-legged companions as well this summer.
The post
A little while ago, we lost our “Morena.”
The adorable face we loved, adored, and who gave it all back to us — just because… that’s who she was, without ever needing to be asked.
The purest, most unconditional love.
A pufferfish took its revenge on us.
There on the beach, our little Morena tasted a washed-up pufferfish.
It took just half an hour. That was all the time death needed.
Watch out for your pets at the beach. There is a new danger out there.
There are no words to describe how all four of us are feeling right now.
Goodbye, my love…
