Explosive conversations from the activities of the accused police officers involved in a drug trafficking ring have come to light. Eight arrests, including four police officers, were made on Thursday (17/07) following warrants issued after an operation by the Internal Affairs Service of Security Forces. They are accused of being members of a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking. One of them served as the leader, while another civilian remains at large.

The investigation began in February 2024 following a report about a police officer serving in Western Attica who allegedly warned Roma individuals about upcoming police raids.
This individual is the accused police officer who was stealing drugs from confiscated quantities and channeling them into the market.
Following are some of the conversations that essentially incriminate these police officers, recorded during the investigation by Greece’s incorruptible police officers.
In one conversation, the ring leader, a deputy inspector who had been suspended, states:
“I need 10k to get 5 kilos out from inside…I have 7…I need 3 tonight…then we’ll play ball…black stuff.”
Another dialogue is between two accused police officers:
Inspector: Buddy, unfortunately. It’s done.
Deputy Inspector – leader: What’s that, I don’t understand.
Inspector: I’m out of Narcotics Division.
This is essentially the police officer who was stealing quantities from confiscated drugs. When he was informed about his transfer from the service and would no longer have access to these substances, he immediately informed the 42-year-old ring leader about this change.
The 42-year-old suspended deputy inspector and 31-year-old demoted inspector were seizing confiscated drug quantities from cases handled by their services and trafficking them in Mykonos through a sales network they had developed, maintaining contacts and cooperation with regional members of the “Greek Mafia,” whom they also warned about upcoming police raids and other activities.
The modus operandi
Exploiting their official positions, the two police officers were stealing narcotic substances confiscated by police and channeling them to other gang members for sale, earning enormous profits.
The 42-year-old deputy inspector had the 31-year-old inspector as his right-hand man, who while serving at the Southeastern Attica Narcotics Division, was stealing confiscated drugs and distributing them for sale through the network.
Their uniformed accomplices included a 35-year-old senior officer and a 43-year-old senior officer serving in Mykonos and Athens.
Two additional police officers and a retired officer, who was recently arrested in a drug case, are also charged.
Notably, the 42-year-old deputy inspector was arrested in October 2024 for defrauding his ex-partner.
From his confiscated mobile phone, his involvement in drug trafficking and other illegal activities emerged, while bank secrecy lifting from January 1, 2020, to May 7, 2025, revealed financial transactions between him and the inspector.
Additionally, 26 cases of “facilitation,” warnings about upcoming police raids, and information leaks from the “PoliceOnLine” system were identified.
Approximately 5 million euros had been credited to the bank accounts of the 42-year-old deputy inspector, alleged leader of the criminal organization, and his 29-year-old Albanian partner over the past five years, according to Internal Affairs Directorate officials.
The case file includes 13 additional individuals, including another police officer and three people with criminal records whose names were also included in the major investigation into four murders within the “Greek Mafia” cigarette trafficking organization.
Two of them had been approached by the notorious “Edik” to murder two specific individuals but refused.
