Starting today, volunteers in civil protection can electronically submit their applications through gov.gr for issuing civil protection volunteer cards, as part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and the Ministry of Digital Governance. This way, as stated in a joint announcement from the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and the Ministry of Digital Governance, volunteers are significantly facilitated, while highlighting the importance of civil protection volunteering for the state and society. Additionally, as emphasized in the announcement, bureaucracy is reduced and the reliability and authenticity of the document is ensured.
It should be noted that the service can be used by volunteers whose organizations are registered in the Unified Registry of Civil Protection Volunteering.
Specifically, the service is available on gov.gr, in the “Citizen and Daily Life” section and the “Volunteering” subsection. The process is as follows:
* Volunteers access the service using TaxisNet credentials, complete the application form, and select the volunteer organization they belong to.
* It is essential that they have uploaded their photo to myPhoto and have given relevant authorization to the service to retrieve it.
* Subsequently, the legal representative of the volunteer organization confirms the details, and then the application is submitted to the competent service of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection for review and processing.
Applicants receive notification about the response to their application through their contact details, provided they have registered them in the National Communication Registry (NCR).
The card is now issued in digital format and is posted in the Citizen’s Portal on gov.gr and in the Gov.gr Wallet. It bears a unique verification code, QR code, as well as the advanced electronic seal of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
The design and implementation of the service were carried out by the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance and the National Infrastructure for Research and Technology (GRNET) of the Ministry of Digital Governance in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. Citizens’ data is automatically retrieved through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance.
