The heatwave didn’t stop hundreds of tourists from climbing the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis this morning, defying the soaring temperatures and scorching sun. Equipped with hats, fans, umbrellas, scarves, hand fans and of course water, visitors from every corner of the world arrived early to admire the monuments as the thermometer exceeded 35 degrees Celsius.

Today’s scene marks the beginning of a six-day heatwave, with temperatures remaining high until this coming Saturday. According to forecasts, many regions of the country are expected to experience maximum temperatures of up to 45°C, while the heat will be intense in Athens as well. One of the most concerning factors is that temperatures won’t drop even at night, with the thermometer staying at 30-35°C, making conditions difficult even during evening hours.
