There are positive developments on the front of the wildfire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon (June 24) in a rural-forest area in **Orchomenos, Boeotia**, as the latest update from the Fire Brigade confirms that the blaze has been contained.

From the very first hours after the fire broke out, a large deployment of ground and aerial forces was mobilized, with reinforcements added as the firefighting operation progressed. Specifically, 54 firefighters are currently on the ground, supported by three foot patrol teams from the 4th EMODE unit and 19 fire trucks. Aerial support was also provided by four aircraft and two helicopters carrying out continuous water drops, while water tankers from local municipal authorities also assisted in the operation.
Situation significantly improved, fire service remains on high alert
According to the Fire Brigade, the situation is now significantly improved. Throughout the operation, the fire front was continuously monitored using a Fire Service drone. Notably, no residential properties or critical local infrastructure were threatened by the blaze. Firefighting units remain on site to address any potential flare-ups and to ensure the complete extinguishing of scattered hotspots.
It is worth noting that the competent Arson Investigation Unit of Boeotia has been dispatched to the area to investigate the cause of the fire.
