Developments are moving rapidly in the disappearance case of 45-year-old Stavroula Leventaki in Chania, with authorities now seriously considering the possibility that the woman has fallen victim to a criminal act. At the center of the investigation is a 45-year-old national of North Macedonia, who was a tenant at the missing woman’s residence and has already been arrested on drug-related charges, after 13 cannabis plants were discovered on premises he was using. However, police interest is focused primarily on findings connected to the disappearance of the 45-year-old. According to police sources speaking to parapolitika.gr, blood traces found at the suspect’s home — specifically on a television set and on the floor — have been forensically matched to the genetic profile of the missing woman. This finding has already been communicated by the Forensic Laboratories to the Chania Security Police Division, which is handling the case and is now assessing the new evidence.

At the same time, authorities are investigating two additional critical pieces of evidence: a mop found in the suspect’s possession and a bloodstain discovered on the van he was using. The identification of these particular samples has not yet been completed, though results could emerge as early as this weekend.
Meanwhile, the man is being brought before a prosecutor (June 20, 1:00 PM) in connection with the cannabis plants case, while police are pressing him for answers about what happened to the missing woman.
Mobile phone towers may hold the answers
According to information from within investigative circles, there is a strong belief that significant evidence has been gathered that could potentially lead to a murder arrest warrant being issued. Within this context, and in order to strengthen the case against the suspect, authorities have requested the lifting of telecommunications secrecy, as investigators believe that communications data and geolocation records could reveal crucial movements and possibly pinpoint where the 45-year-old was taken following her disappearance.
Also under close scrutiny are the suspect’s own statements, which, according to police sources, have been found to contain contradictions and inconsistencies. Of particular interest is the fact that footage is missing from the home security camera system he had installed at the property. The suspect reportedly claimed he deleted specific recordings for personal reasons, stating he did not want certain visits to his premises to come to light. This explanation, however, appears to have failed to convince investigators, who continue to examine every aspect of the case.
