Scenes of incredible chaos unfolded on Tuesday evening (9/6) in Aigaleo, when a 48-year-old truck driver, under the influence of alcohol, turned the area’s streets into a bumper car track, causing damage to six parked vehicles. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM on Bouboulinas Street, with residents coming out of their homes in terror after hearing continuous noise from the collisions.
According to witnesses, the 48-year-old was not aware of his actions. In fact, in one instance he crashed into the same vehicle twice, as he apparently couldn’t comprehend what was happening around him. The greatest damage was suffered by a local family, as the driver hit three different cars belonging to them, causing extensive damage.

The truck’s wild rampage was stopped thanks to the intervention of a pedestrian who was walking his dog at the time. The man approached the driver’s window and, by shaking him, managed to wake him up and immobilize him until police arrived. Witnesses also claimed that the 48-year-old had caused damage in other neighborhoods before ending up on Bouboulinas Street, while some reported that when he came to his senses, he allegedly justified his condition by saying he was “devastated over a woman.”
Police rushed to the scene and proceeded with his arrest. During the breathalyzer test that was performed, it was found that he had 1.24 mg/l of alcohol in his exhaled breath, indicating severe intoxication, as the legal limit is only 0.24! Criminal charges were filed against him and he was arrested on the spot, while he is expected to be brought before the competent prosecutor.
