Society remains numb from the brutal murder of 39-year-old Vasiliki in Kalamata, as new evidence continues to emerge. According to sources, authorities have discovered audio recordings allegedly belonging to the 41-year-old suspect’s wife. These files are estimated to be crucial for investigating the motives and circumstances of the crime.
The 41-year-old, who has confessed to the crime, ultimately did not testify yesterday. He appeared at the Kalamata courthouse shortly after 11 AM and remained there for approximately one hour before requesting and receiving a new deadline for Saturday. This is, as provided by procedure, the last postponement that could be granted to him. The decision to grant the postponement appears to be connected to new evidence added to the case file. According to the defense attorney, the forensic examination report was delivered only the morning of the previous day, which – as he argued – did not allow the necessary time for study.
Kalamata: The most likely scenario for custody of Vasiliki’s children
At the same time, a serious deadlock has emerged regarding custody of Vasiliki’s daughters. The murdered Vasiliki’s sister had requested custody of the two girls, however she reportedly stated that she lacks the financial capacity to meet the responsibilities. According to Mega, the consideration for custody of the two girls is to grant it to their grandmother with a legal guardian. For now, the children remain in the care of doctors.
“The murderer’s relatives have been forbidden from seeing them,” said POEDHN president Michalis Giannakos.
Kalamata femicide: Audio files and new developments
Of particular interest are the audio recordings that police officers discovered during the preliminary investigation. The files were found, according to sources, on a computer at the office where the accused worked and include conversations of his wife. The method by which the recordings were made has not yet been clarified.
Authorities’ investigations continue both at the 41-year-old’s workplace and at the couple’s residence. Meanwhile, computers, storage devices and other digital evidence have been confiscated and sent to criminological laboratories. The analyses of the findings are considered decisive, as they may reveal whether the crime was premeditated and shed light on the perpetrator’s motives.

What is the profile of the 41-year-old accused
The new developments strengthen, according to the same sources, the image of intense obsession by the 41-year-old toward his wife. Meanwhile, there appears to be a change in his description of events. While initially he claimed he woke up and found himself facing a situation that led to the crime, now the argument being presented is that an intense fight between the couple had preceded it.
Police investigative work is in full progress, with investigators not ruling out the possibility of new critical revelations in the coming days. All eyes turn to the 41-year-old’s testimony on Saturday, from which answers to crucial questions in the case are expected.
