Many regions across the country exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, with the highest temperatures recorded today in Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece and the Peloponnese, according to a map from the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr.

Specifically, the maximum temperature was recorded in Stylida, Fthiotida (40.3°C) followed by Skala Messinias (40.1°C) and Thebes (39.8°C). However, from Friday (18/7) a slight drop in temperature is expected, providing moments of relief as, according to the weather forecast from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, the thermometer will not exceed 37°C.

Generally clear skies. Local cloud formations will develop in mainland areas during midday and afternoon hours, with local showers in mountainous areas and isolated thunderstorms in northern mountains. Winds will blow from northern directions in the north and western directions in the south at 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature will drop mainly in northern areas where it will not exceed 32 to 34 degrees, while in the rest of the mainland it will reach 35 to 37 degrees and in island areas 32 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Temperature: From 20 to 35 and locally 36 degrees. In the Ionian Islands and Epirus the maximum 3 to 4 degrees lower.
THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Generally clear. During midday and afternoon hours clouds will develop in mainland areas with local showers in mountainous areas and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the mountains of Thessaly.
Winds: Western northwestern 3 to 5 and from midday gradually variable 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 36 to 37 degrees Celsius and in Thessaly 2 to 3 degrees lower.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Clear.
Winds: From western directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 24 to 32 degrees and in Crete up to 33 degrees Celsius.
EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Winds: In the north from northern and in the south from western directions 3 to 4 Beaufort.
