A 4-year-old girl is hospitalized in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being seriously injured when she was struck, along with her father, by a truck at a pedestrian crossing on Wednesday morning, July 16, in front of the main entrance of PAGNI hospital in Heraklion.

The incident occurred in front of the hospital’s main entrance when a 43-year-old father and his young daughter attempted to cross the pedestrian crossing. However, a passing truck failed to stop, resulting in both being struck.

The father sustained minor injuries and received first aid before being discharged. The 4-year-old girl, however, remains in critical but stable condition in the ICU with serious head and leg injuries, causing concern among both her family and medical staff.
The truck driver was arrested by police authorities as part of the immediate legal procedure, while Heraklion Traffic Police are investigating the exact causes of the accident.
