Gang rape in Piraeus: 14-year-old’s shocking testimony describes absolute nightmare
In her testimony, the minor describes what happened from the moment she entered the apartment until she left in terrible condition and began walking on the street. Among other revelations, the appointment was not arranged by the 16-year-old, as initially reported, but by the 18-year-old accused of raping her.
“I went alone to the square and the 18-year-old came there and told me ‘follow me’ and we went to his house. His cousin, the 16-year-old, was also there. At first they didn’t even make a move, they were fine. They were really friendly, we talked nicely and joked around, and they had brought soft drinks and chips. They had told me they were 15 years old, but at the police station we saw they were 17 and 18. I wanted to use the bathroom and when I went to leave the bathroom he said ‘wait a little longer, because I’m preparing something for you’. When I opened the door, the 18-year-old’s brother had arrived. He was right there at the door. As I was coming out, he introduced himself and moved to kiss me. I pulled away and said ‘what are you doing? Are you okay? I don’t even know you’ and he replied that his brother had no problem with it. I told him I hadn’t come to the house for something like that and he answered that since it happened, why shouldn’t something happen,” the minor initially described, according to Mega.
“Don’t resist, don’t be a spoilsport”
The 14-year-old continued her description saying: “I went to the room to leave my things and called his brother and asked him for an explanation. At that moment the doorbell rang and it was the 20-year-old. I hadn’t spoken to him for quite a while and was surprised he came there. He told me they said ‘there’s a girl here, come see her’. We were sitting on the balcony at a square table. There the 18-year-old took out a cigarette and was putting something inside.”
And she added: “We went to sleep with the 17-year-old, but in separate beds and the other two were in the living room, while the other was on the balcony. At some point, because we were all cold from the air conditioning, […] said we should all gather in the bed to warm up. Then they all came to me and gradually grabbed me, hugged me. With their hands they were touching my body,” she added.
She continued her testimony saying, according to Open: “They started taking off my clothes and undressing themselves. The two brothers held me by the arms and […] raped me first and then his brother […] came. I was resisting, pulling my arms and pushing him. They had grabbed my arms and I was saying ‘what are you doing? Are you okay?’. But they were laughing and telling me ‘don’t talk and everything will be fine’. It hurt me a lot, I told him ‘you’re hurting me, leave me alone’ and he said ‘okay, slowly slowly’. Then one held me by the arms and the other by the legs. I was just resisting and they were telling me ‘come on don’t resist, don’t be a spoilsport’.”
“Then the 19-year-old entered the room and said ‘what are you doing to the girl?’ and the 17-year-old told him ‘leave, you’re irrelevant’ and went to sleep. I couldn’t see or understand much because I had in my mind that it shouldn’t happen and they wanted it to happen. In the end I went and took a shower and then went outside. […] told me to go home and sort things out with my mom. I went to sleep and would do that in the morning. I slept alone, one was in the next bed, the other on the couch and the other left. We woke up early and I left. I was just walking and found myself at the girl’s shop, who saw me and called the police. When we went outside, they told me that maybe what happened was a bit wrong and sorry. […] told me not to say anything, because we would fight and we would all get in trouble,” the minor continues.
Concluding, the 14-year-old said: “I know all this was bad, they destroyed me. Something holds me back, as if I’m justifying them because they are kids. I justify them all. I want everyone to be punished except the 19-year-old who did nothing.”
“I am not a rapist”
For their part, the parents and close relatives of the four accused maintain that their children are innocent.
“I deny the charges, I am not a rapist. I met the 14-year-old that night at my friend’s house. Whatever happened between us happened without pressure and with her consent. She herself mentions that I was more hesitant. I didn’t realize she didn’t want to. The house is mine. My friend brought the girl to the house to stay and told me she had left her parents and didn’t want to return. I told her she shouldn’t stay at the house and that she should return to her parents because they would worry. I told her this several times but she didn’t want to return,” the 16-year-old testified.
“What should I tell you mom? That they raped me?”
The 14-year-old’s father stated on the matter: “The little one told me that there were two boys in the house and after a while two more went there. Because they had the air conditioning on, the four people sat next to her. Three started bothering her in various parts of her body. The fourth didn’t do anything. When my daughter tried to resist, one held her tightly by the arms. When we asked her if she had consumed any substance, she answered negatively.”
For her part, the 14-year-old’s mother said: “At 10:00 in the morning I went to wake up my daughter and found that she was missing from the house. Her father notified ‘The Smile of the Child’ and I called her friends. Later the police called me and told me they had located her and taken her to the station. When I saw her she told me ‘I’m fine, I slept at a friend’s house’. She described the whole scenario to me. She told me that 3 of the 4 people started bothering her in various parts of her body, supposedly to warm up because it was cold from the air conditioning. I asked her ‘why didn’t you come straight to our house?’. She answered frightened ‘what should I tell you mom? That they raped me?’. Then she confessed to me that when she left their house, they threatened her that if she spoke they would harm her.”
“I wanted to leave a bit, to feel independent”
The 14-year-old was asked by police officers why she chose to leave her mobile phone at home, and about her relationship with her parents. As she testified: “We live in Keratsini. We are seven siblings and two of them are half-siblings, while we have three more from my father’s partner’s side. My parents have been divorced since I was two years old. We had also gone to Germany for two years when they divorced and I stayed there with our uncles. I try to be a good student. What made me leave home wasn’t that I don’t have a good time. They love me and show it to me. There are some fights, but it’s okay, it’s logical, because I’m also in adolescence and I’m abrupt towards my parents and they get nervous. I want them to understand me a little more, because I don’t go out for walks at all, I wanted to leave a bit to feel independent. Basically I didn’t know where to go when I thought about all this. I took a backpack with clothes and a toothbrush. As soon as everyone at home fell asleep, I took the bag and opened the door, put on shoes and left.”
Finally, the next hours were the worst of her life, as the minor mentioned. “Initially I didn’t know where to go and I
