New evidence has come to light regarding the murder of a 21-year-old in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete and the background of the 54-year-old perpetrator. Speaking to ANT1 on Wednesday morning (06/05), the family lawyer of the 21-year-old revealed that complaints had been made and a lawsuit had been filed by the 21-year-old. Moreover, the family lawyer described a past incident involving the 54-year-old perpetrator.
“He chased him through the narrow streets while he was at work, and he was shouting for help,” she stated characteristically. “The chase stopped only when the young man managed to find refuge: ‘He ran into an alley and a woman opened her door and the boy went into the house and escaped then,'” she added.

After this incident, the 21-year-old proceeded with an official complaint against the 54-year-old. “The boy reported it… I cannot know if this case file was forwarded,” she said. She also revealed that restrictive conditions had been imposed on the perpetrator since 2024. “A year ago conditions were imposed… which were violated repeatedly. He continued to threaten… I believe these conditions were violated daily.” She emphasized that the imposed conditions were “non-approach orders, reporting to the police station, prohibition from leaving the country.”
Timeline of the tragedy
The crime occurred on Tuesday afternoon (05/05) in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete, causing shock in the local community. According to witnesses, the 54-year-old had ambushed the 21-year-old, whom he blamed for his 17-year-old son’s death in a traffic accident in 2023. The two vehicles met on Andreas Papandreou Avenue, when the perpetrator, driving a black car, blocked the road to the young man’s vehicle and caused a collision, aiming to immobilize him.
An intense confrontation followed, which escalated within seconds when the 54-year-old drew a weapon. The 21-year-old then tried to escape on foot and headed toward a nearby accommodation, but the perpetrator chased him and opened fire.
According to eyewitnesses and audio evidence broadcast by KRITI TV, successive gunshots were heard, with the young man receiving fatal wounds. The perpetrator reportedly shot him at least four to five times using a revolver, hitting him both from behind and in the chest, while the final shot was delivered on the pavement where he collapsed. The 21-year-old was transferred to PAGNI hospital where his death was confirmed.
