Chaos erupted on Sunday afternoon (13/7) at a cafe in Kolonos, as a shooting incident occurred, resulting in two people being injured. The incident, which took place at a cafe near the park in Plato’s Academy, on Tripoleos Street, involved two men, including a Turkish citizen, who was shot and slightly wounded in the legs by the perpetrator as he exited the establishment.

How the shooting incident in Kolonos unfolded
Specifically, according to information, one of the two injured victims and the perpetrator’s target is a man of Turkish origin, while the second victim is a police officer and husband of the cafe owner. The police officer was transferred to the 401 Military Hospital, while the man was taken to “G. Gennimatas” Hospital. Neither is in life-threatening condition.

According to ERT, the Turkish citizen was with another man outside the cafe. He went inside, got a coffee and came back out. The two men exchanged words and the victim suggested they go inside to drink coffee together.
However, the other man drew a pistol and as the first man ran into the interior of the establishment, he shot him, wounding him in the legs. The bullets also injured the police officer in the legs, who was coincidentally in the shop, as it belongs to his wife.
The victim reportedly identified the perpetrator to police, as he is a fellow countryman and known to him, and a manhunt is underway. Four bullet casings from a pistol were found at the scene of the shooting.
