The results of toxicological and histological examinations will reveal whether the unfortunate Myrto from Kefalonia had used drugs and crucially whether she had fallen victim to rape, with the forensic pathologist who examined her body yesterday speaking of cardiac arrest. The three arrested individuals – the 23-year-old boyfriend of Myrto, the 26-year-old Greek former weightlifter who allegedly supplied the group with cocaine, and a young Albanian national known to them – have seen the charges against them upgraded and are now accused of premeditated homicide and violation of drug laws.
The three young men will give their testimonies tomorrow morning, with each one shifting blame to the others for what happened on that fateful night. The forensic examination showed that the girl bore no external injuries. However, a special investigation is underway to determine if she fell victim to sexual abuse.
The father of 19-year-old Myrto spoke to “Apogevmatini”: “My child was respectful, studious, she had been accepted to university. She had nothing to do with drugs. They got her involved. She had been accepted in Athens and I didn’t send her there because I was afraid. My girl stayed here and these beasts got her involved.”
According to journalistic sources, the 19-year-old’s boyfriend claimed in his statement: “We were in the apartment with Myrto. The 26-year-old came, brought us the drugs and Myrto paid him. Then he left and returned almost an hour later with a new quantity of drugs, which Myrto was persistently asking for. At some point I saw Myrto having convulsions, trembling and sitting on the bed. I thought she was doing it for fun.”
It is noted that the 26-year-old V.G., former weightlifting champion, has been arrested a total of nine times from 2020 until recently: twice in 2020 for causing bodily harm and other crimes, two more times in 2021, once in 2022, once in 2023, twice in 2024 and once in 2025. The Albanian national confirmed cocaine use, claiming that he has no connection to trafficking or to the girl’s death.
