The local community of Agrinio is plunged into mourning after a tragedy that occurred on Friday afternoon (July 11) in Lefka, when a father was reversing to park and fatally struck his two-year-old daughter.

The tragic incident occurred when the 29-year-old attempted to park his agricultural vehicle in the courtyard of his home, without noticing the presence of the child behind the vehicle, resulting in him striking her.

The two-year-old was immediately transported by her parents to Agrinio Hospital, where unfortunately, despite doctors’ efforts, her death was confirmed. A tragic figure was the 29-year-old father, who was screaming when he realized he had killed his child, as he hadn’t seen her in time, along with the child’s mother, who is pregnant with the family’s second child.
The child’s body was transferred for autopsy to Ioannina and not to Corinth, which serves Aetolia-Acarnania after the closure of the Forensic Medicine department in Patras.
The funeral service for the two-year-old girl will be held today, Saturday, July 12, at the Church of Axion Esti in Lefka, Agrinio at 7:00 PM.
