The recovery operation for the body of the unfortunate 65-year-old woman who lost her life after falling from cliffs at Meteora was particularly difficult and demanding. The operation was carried out by the Rescue Team of the Kalambaka Mountaineering Club, with rescuers working in an extremely difficult and dangerous location where the woman’s body was found after she had fallen from a great height earlier that day. The conditions of the operation were particularly challenging due to the terrain morphology and high altitude, requiring coordinated actions and increased caution from the rescue team members.
Timeline of the Meteora tragedy
According to information, the 65-year-old woman was at a Holy Monastery of Meteora when, under circumstances that remain unclear, she fell from the rocks and lost her life. As reported, the woman had left her bag containing her personal belongings in the restrooms of the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephen.
Greek Police forces, an ambulance from the National Emergency Medical Service (EKAB), and firefighting units immediately rushed to the scene, assisting in the recovery operation and incident management.
