Shock has gripped the local community of Elis following the case of an 8-month-old baby who was transferred with burns and fractures to the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital in Patras. According to new information brought to light by parapolitika.gr, the child has fractures in both arm and leg, as well as abrasions at various points on the body. Doctors estimate that bacteria entered through these wounds, requiring antibiotic treatment.
According to ERT information, the incident occurred approximately ten days ago in Pyrgos, when a citizen spotted a young Roma woman holding the infant, which showed visible signs of abuse. The citizen intervened and immediately notified the authorities. The child was initially transferred to Pyrgos hospital, where it was hospitalized for about a week. However, due to the severity of its condition, doctors deemed it necessary to transfer the baby to the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital in Patras. There, examining doctors immediately determined that the infant’s injuries were inconsistent with an accident, but suggested possible abuse. Police authorities were immediately notified and have launched an investigation for the complete clarification of the case.
It should be noted that earlier today the infant’s mother was arrested.
