The escalation of mobilizations with major strikes, which will begin with the start of the tourist season, was announced by the president of SATA (Athens Taxi Drivers Union), Thymios Lymberopulos speaking on Parapolitika 90.1.
Lymberopulos on Parapolitika 90.1 about taxis: “As soon as the tourist season begins, then we will launch the major strikes”
Speaking in detail on Monday morning (23/3) on the “Face to Face Microphones” show with journalists Sotiris Xenakis and Vasilis Skouris, and while a new strike by taxi drivers is underway from this morning, Thymios Lymberopulos, when asked if they would request a fare increase due to rising fuel costs, said: “There needs to be a fare increase and it must be generous because since ’22 and after with so much inflation we have lost whatever could remain as profit in the profession. We cannot continue with this policy of subsidies – they must reduce consumption tax and VAT.”
Subsequently, when asked if they would stop the mobilizations, he replied: “Nothing stops, they will be organized in other ways. The peak will be as soon as the tourist season begins, then we will launch the major strikes.”
Finally, regarding Konstantinos Kyranakis’ statement that Mr. Lymberopulos defends interests, he responded: “After 40 years, a Goebbels of the Truth Team who distorts everything, a person who has no relation to politics but simply studied in the Truth Team, was paid to do this job and thinks he became a minister and can continue the same process – this is despicable. What’s despicable first of all is from the Prime Minister himself who tolerates him because for a minister to represent such obvious interests and it’s so proven that you cannot tolerate him unless you too have a connection with these interests.
