For the third consecutive 24-hour period, strike mobilizations by taxi drivers continue, as they declare that as long as the Transport Ministry’s bill is being discussed in Parliament, the sector will remain on the streets.
Taxi strike: Mobilizations continue in Attica, returned to regional roads
Today, Thursday (19/3) they will travel to “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport, where a demonstration will take place.During yesterday, taxi drivers held a march to Parliament. It should be noted that they express their disagreement with provisions concerning the electrification of commercial vehicles, special licenses and issues related to the criminal record of professional drivers.
At 5 AM on Thursday (19/3), taxis returned to the roads outside Attica where SATA continues its mobilizations. According to the announcement by the Panhellenic Taxi Federation, the Associations in the rest of Greece are stopping the strike and will return dynamically next week and on the day when the controversial bill will be voted on in Parliament, which has caused intense reactions from taxi drivers and owners.
New demonstration at Parliament on Friday
As announced by SATA president Thymios Lyberopoulos, on Friday (20/3) there will be a new demonstration at Parliament, while their strike mobilizations will continue and peak next week, when the bill will be voted on in Parliament. The drivers have requested a roll-call vote so that, as they state, “everyone will know who voted to put an end to our lives.”
