A significant international distinction once again highlights Greece’s unique natural beauty, placing Kimolos at the center of global tourism interest.
According to a recent analysis by American travel website Florida Panhandle, Prassa beach in Kimolos boasts the world’s cleanest waters.
The research was based on extensive analysis of over 2.4 million traveler reviews from popular rating platforms, aimed at identifying beaches that received the most mentions of “clean waters.” Beaches with the highest percentage of positive related reviews were ranked at the top of a list of 50 beaches worldwide.
Based on the results, Prassa beach in Kimolos topped the rankings, with 43.56% of reviews explicitly mentioning its clean waters.
This represents the highest percentage globally, confirming Greece’s reputation as a country with unparalleled natural coastlines and crystal-clear waters.
Greek dominance in top beach rankings
Greece doesn’t limit itself to just first place but dominates the top five, occupying three total positions. This distinction strengthens Greece’s international image as a premier destination for authentic experiences, combining natural beauty, cleanliness, and hospitality.
- Prassa Beach, Kimolos, Greece
- Gennadi Beach, Rhodes, Greece
- Pileh Lagoon, Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
- Agios Dimitrios Beach, Mainland Greece
- Agia Anna Beach, Naxos, Greece
As Florida Panhandle notes, “it’s no surprise that most of the top beaches with the cleanest waters are located in Greece, a country globally known for its natural beauty and turquoise seas.”
Steady rise for Kimolos
Kimolos, a small Cycladic island less cosmopolitan than its neighbors, is steadily gaining ground in the tourism sector, attracting travelers seeking authentic experiences and peaceful vacations away from mass tourism. This distinction enhances the island’s reputation as a “secret paradise” with unspoiled natural beauty.
Prassa beach, also known as White Sand, is famous for its shallow, transparent waters and distinctive white sand, creating a landscape reminiscent of tropical destinations but with authentic Cycladic character.
Greece’s opportunity
This distinction comes at a time when tourism in Greece continues its upward trajectory and seeks ways to diversify and promote lesser-known destinations. Kimolos and other distinguished Greek beaches offer significant opportunities for tourism development, especially in the quality tourism sector.
International recognitions, particularly when derived from travelers’ own opinions, function as powerful promotional tools, enhancing the attractiveness of Greek islands in foreign markets.
