A 19-year-old Dutch tourist allegedly raped an 18-year-old German tourist in Rhodes, according to the victim’s complaint. According to information from dimokratiki.gr, everything started on Thursday evening (10/7), when the 18-year-old German woman was partying with friends at a nightclub, having consumed a large amount of alcohol. During the evening, the girl lost her bag and returned with the 19-year-old Dutch man to the hotel. After searching for the bag unsuccessfully, they went to his room, where, according to the girl’s complaint, the sexual assault occurred.

The 18-year-old was lying on the single bed and he invited her to the double bed. There, after attempting to kiss her, an act she had previously rejected at the club, he proceeded to commit indecent acts against her will. Due to intoxication, she was not able to react adequately and the 19-year-old proceeded to penetrate her without her consent, while she was asking him to stop. Characteristic is her phrase in her statement: “I felt like a prostitute.”

The act allegedly lasted about five minutes, with the girl leaving the room around 07:30 in the morning. Despite the seriousness of the complaint, the 18-year-old stated that she does not wish to pursue criminal prosecution of the accused, explaining that she does not want to talk about the incident again and wishes to forget it. However, the police are obligated to investigate the case based on the allegations. The accused, on the other hand, denies all charges attributed to him.
The accused’s statement
In his statement, he states that the two had sexual contact with full consent, in a state of mutual intoxication, without violence or coercion. In fact, he claims that she herself asked him to proceed with the sexual act. The 19-year-old even proposes to be examined by a forensic doctor, while he mentions that the night shift employee of the hotel can be a witness to the events. The Crime Investigation Sub-Directorate of Rhodes has already collected the complainant’s underwear for sending to forensic laboratories.
