A crime gang that operated by stealing from shops and parked vehicles in Nea Philadelphia has been dismantled. As part of the case, a 49-year-old Greek man was arrested on Monday morning (7/7) by Immediate Action police officers while he had entered a business to steal. Specifically, according to the Hellenic Police, as emerged from the preliminary investigation by a special team of officers established by the Crime Detection and Investigation Department of Nea Philadelphia – Nea Chalkidona to investigate recorded cases of thefts from shops and parked vehicles in Nea Philadelphia, the 49-year-old, together with other individuals, had formed and joined a criminal group over the past month, aimed at committing thefts and subsequently obtaining illegal financial gain.
The gang’s operations in Nea Philadelphia
Regarding their operations, the group members mainly during nighttime hours would first select their target and then the 49-year-old would break into shop doors and vehicles using tools, stealing cash and electronic devices, which they would immediately resell to fences.
8 theft incidents solved
During the commission of the thefts, the group members took counter-surveillance measures, wearing gloves and moving in areas where there were no security cameras in order to make their detection difficult. From the preliminary investigation so far, 8 cases of thefts from shops and parked vehicles in Nea Philadelphia and Nea Chalkidona have been solved.

In the footage below, captured by security cameras, a gang member is shown frame-by-frame on his knees, crawling with a hood over his head as he breaks into a business. After searching for money and valuables, he leaves running in an unknown direction. Another gang member was also recorded by security cameras attempting to break into a parked van.
