A fire broke out early Saturday morning (7/3) in three boats located in a shipyard in the land zone of Syros harbor.

Fire department units from Ermoupolis immediately rushed to the scene with vehicles and personnel, battling to extinguish the blaze. Meanwhile, officials from the Coast Guard, Police, Regional Authority, Municipality, and Civil Protection are present in the area.
At the same time, firefighters, volunteers, and citizens are participating in the operation, trying to contain the fire’s spread, while thick smoke has covered the Ermoupolis area.
The firefighting operation is in full progress. So far, the causes that triggered the fire in the first boat, from which it later spread to neighboring vessels, remain unknown.
