New details emerge regarding the murder case of a 50-year-old man in Leros, who was killed by his 18-year-old son. The murder took place yesterday afternoon (26/02), and today the 18-year-old accused of killing his father inside their business in Leros will be brought before the prosecutor. From initial evidence, police authorities concluded this was a criminal act, an assessment confirmed hours later.
According to witness testimonies, everything happened within minutes at the 50-year-old’s workshop in Leros. Two other employees were present at the scene, who testified to police that while they were in the workshop’s “oven” area with the victim’s son, the 18-year-old left briefly.
Leros: New details emerge in 50-year-old’s murder by his 18-year-old son
Minutes later, the young man returned shouting: “Help, call an ambulance, my father has been hurt.” The two employees rushed to the 50-year-old, who told them he didn’t feel well and asked for some water before losing consciousness. The man was then transported to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Reports indicate the 18-year-old had been a victim of abuse by his father. In August 2022, his father threw a chisel at him, and shortly after entered the house, grabbed his minor son, and punched him in the arm while demanding he help with work. At that time, the 50-year-old was arrested in the act and released hours later with a verbal prosecutor’s order. The 18-year-old’s mother reported that the father behaved savagely toward the child and they had frequent arguments. The young man denies he intended to kill him. However, during their final argument, the 18-year-old allegedly threw a cylinder piston at his father, injuring him in the head and causing his death.
“The father often threw objects at his son”
A family neighbor noted: “We all said it would happen sooner or later. The father and son had no good relationship at all. They argued almost every day, many times the father would throw objects at his son and yell at him, scolding him.” “When we heard about it yesterday, we all said it was overdue. The father generally had aggressive behavior, even inside the house. The workshop was strange, it looked more like a warehouse, and the 18-year-old went there unwillingly.”
