Aerial footage from Orange Press Agency’s drone reveals a shocking scene, with vast areas transformed into an endless “lagoon.” According to the latest reports, at several points around Pythio, the river level has approached 6.5 meters.

Evros: The extent of flooding phenomena in Soufli
The situation remains critical for the Municipality of Soufli, with Lavara on standby as waters invaded the settlement, leading to residential evacuations during previous nights. Currently, the main focus of operations falls on the Tychero embankment, which is under tremendous pressure. Military assistance is expected to reinforce it with sandbags, as a potential collapse would mean the submersion of an additional 40,000 acres of crops. Local farmers express their despair, as it is estimated that at least two months will be required to drain the fields. Damage to pumping stations and agricultural machinery is extensive, while a complete assessment of the disaster’s impact on the local economy will only be possible after the waters definitively recede.
