The 85-year-old man who allegedly threatened middle school students with an air gun in the area of Agios Ioannis Rentis is captured on video footage that appears to have been filmed by the young students. Amidst insults and mockery, the students videotape the incident, with the 85-year-old man appearing to converse with someone from a distance.
According to what he reportedly told police officers, he came into conflict with some of the children due to… noise disturbance. The school administration became aware of the incident and called the authorities, filing a complaint.

Rentis: The timeline – What the 85-year-old claimed
The elderly man exceeded all limits in Agios Ioannis Rentis, shortly after noon (26/2) because, as he reportedly said, some students were making… noise.
The incident occurred shortly after 12:00 PM. The school principal informed authorities that a local resident allegedly drew a weapon and pointed it toward students who were outside the school complex, with the intention – as reported – to intimidate them. Immediately after, according to the same complaint, he entered his house. Police officers from the Immediate Action unit rushed to the scene and arrested a man, without having found any real firearm so far. The principal also mentioned that the incident was recorded on video.
As determined, it involves an 85-year-old Greek citizen. He claimed that shortly before 12:00 PM he left his ground-floor residence, annoyed – as he said – by the behavior of underage students from the neighboring middle school, and pointed an air gun in their direction, without any further action, returning immediately to his house.
No injuries to students or other citizens were reported. Security personnel went to the scene to investigate the case.
