Christos Maurikis dismisses as unfounded the claims circulating in recent hours about alleged gunfire with real weapons during the incident involving him in Spata a few days ago. Speaking to parapolitika.gr, he stated that the photos circulated online are from a wedding in Crete in 1990 when he legally held a firearms license.
According to what he showed parapolitika.gr, regarding the weapon he used in the recent incident at his home, he will present a purchase receipt proving it was a blank-firing gun.
It should be noted that he faces prosecution for, among other charges, illegal possession of a blank-firing weapon and reckless gunfire. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, when he allegedly fired twice into the air and threatened a 45-year-old man who was staying in the same house.

Christos Maurikis: Fired twice in the air and barricaded himself in his residence
It is recalled that Christos Maurikis is accused of arguing with a man of Albanian origin and, during the incident, allegedly fired twice into the air. Immediately after, he reportedly barricaded himself in his residence in the Imeros Peykos area in Spata. A Greek Police operation followed, during which police forces conducted extensive searches in the broader area.
Christos Maurikis was eventually located in an adjacent field, where, according to the same sources, he had been hiding for more than three hours. After criminal prosecution was initiated, he was brought before the Summary Single-Member Misdemeanor Court to stand trial. It is noted that the defendant became widely known in the 1990s after being involved in a wiretapping case, which earned him the nickname “ringleader” at the time.
Additionally, last May he was charged with attempted bribery of a judicial official. After his testimony in that case, restrictive conditions were imposed on him, including house arrest with electronic monitoring (ankle bracelet).
