A premeditated murder charge has been filed against the Bulgarian prisoner who shot and killed a Greek lifer inside a room at Domokos prison, in the presence of the prison warden and Alket Rizaj, on Sunday afternoon. According to police sources, the Bulgarian executioner fired a total of three shots at the victim. Two bullets struck him in the head while one missed its target.
How the murder of the lifer at Domokos prison unfolded
All those present at the crime scene maintain their claim that the victim argued with the prison warden because he had issued a transfer order and attempted to draw a pistol, but the Bulgarian prisoner acted first, snatched the weapon and shot him. Police are carefully examining this claim and investigating whether the events occurred exactly as described, or if something else lies behind the incident. The Bulgarian, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of businessman John Makris in 2018 in Voula, is known in the underworld as a contract killer, both in Greece and other European countries.
Authorities are also investigating how the pistol entered the prison and how the three inmates found themselves in that specific area, as they should have been in their cells at that time. Currently, no other involvement in the crime by the prison warden and Alket Rizaj emerges beyond their presence at the scene, as the specific area, according to police sources, has no cameras. The investigation continues by the Greek Police for the complete clarification of the case.
