The local community in Crete is stunned after a 64-year-old man allegedly killed his 67-year-old brother in the village of Martha in Viannos, Heraklion, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred just before 9:00 PM, when the two brothers – the 67-year-old victim and the 64-year-old alleged perpetrator – got into an intense argument inside their home.

For reasons still unknown, the situation escalated when the 64-year-old grabbed a knife and fatally wounded his brother in the neck. Police and EKAB paramedics rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the 67-year-old died from his injuries.

According to information from creta24, the two brothers had been living in the same house recently, with the victim having resided in Heraklion for several years before returning to Martha.
The two had ongoing disagreements and although they had apparently reconciled according to creta24 reports, tensions clearly remained. The 67-year-old was divorced with two children, while the 64-year-old, according to testimonies from local residents, lived in isolation and faced behavioral problems. It should be noted that the alleged perpetrator had previously been involved in violent incidents where he had used a hunting rifle.
The 64-year-old has been arrested and is expected to be brought before the competent authorities, while the preliminary investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances under which the fatal stabbing occurred.
