Police have identified a 30-year-old man after videos of illegal street racing that he posted on a popular social media platform. The man appeared in the videos as a driver in impromptu races, driving at excessive speeds and moving into oncoming traffic lanes, violating double dividing lines on road axes in the Athens area.
The investigation by officers from the Special Information Analysis and Social Networks Unit of the Police Headquarters on social media platforms to identify traffic violations that are subsequently posted online revealed videos on a popular social networking platform.
Police officers immediately investigated the published material and identified the 30-year-old as the driver of the vehicle. Criminal charges have been filed against him for incitement to commit a crime and dangerous driving as a continuing offense.
The vehicle in question was located and confiscated in the Oropos area. The case file has been submitted to the competent prosecutor.
