One criminal method, one sick plan and three unfortunate babies. A few hours after what became known about the arrest of Eirini Mourtzoukou, the tragic case of murders in Amaliada is unraveling, with the investigating magistrate of Achaia revealing how the 25-year-old acted, stating that she caused the closure of the babies’ airways which led to their suffocation.
A few hours before Eirini Mourtzoukou’s departure for Patras and the local courthouse, the reasoning behind the warrant issued by the investigating magistrate of Achaia regarding the charges against the 25-year-old comes to light. Excerpts from the reasoning were presented on the show “OPEN Now,” shocking viewers with what the judicial officer describes in calling the 25-year-old to account for a total of three murders and one attempted murder.
Eirini Mourtzoukou: The murderous methods according to the magistrate
The magistrate first brings under scrutiny the attempted murder of the 25-year-old’s partner:
“In Patras within your then residence, having decided in a calm mental state that allowed full thought, to kill your then permanent partner, while she was sleeping you put a pillow on her face in order to completely block her airways so that she could not breathe, however you did not manage to achieve your murderous purpose, for reasons external and independent of your will, because the victim woke up and thus her death, which you sought, did not occur,” the indictment reportedly states.
The magistrate describes in dark terms Eirini Mourtzoukou’s double attempt to kill the baby of her friend and godmother, Katerina:
“In Patras on 11-12-2020 at approximately 16:30 within a room of the Karamandaneio – General Children’s Hospital of Patras where your friend’s female infant was hospitalized, and while she had asked you to remain for a while in the room until she returned from the house where you lived, you being alone in the room with the aforementioned infant, being in a calm mental state attempted to kill it, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth in a manner still unclear during the investigation), however you did not complete your act, because the doctors and nurses of the Hospital intervened immediately and the infant was saved.
Subsequently in Patras on 4-2-2021 at approximately 4:30 am within your house where you and your friend with her aforementioned minor female infant lived, while you were watching the aforementioned infant as its mother was absent, being in a calm mental state you killed the aforementioned minor female infant, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) in a manner still unclear during the investigation, causing hypoxia with hypoxic-asphyxic mechanism, from which as the sole active cause its death occurred, knowing that you were taking away its life and wanting its death to occur.”
“Caused hypoxia with asphyxic hypoxic mechanism”
Similar emotions are generated by the descriptions of the murder of Eirini Mourtzoukou’s two children:
“In Kato Achaia on 18-6-2022, at a time still unclear and certainly before 23:30, acting with intent, being in a calm mental state, you committed the crime of murder, being a family member, against another member of your family. Specifically, during the aforementioned time, you killed your minor female infant of unknown father who was born on 1-6-2022, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) causing hypoxia with asphyxic hypoxic mechanism, from which as the sole active cause its death occurred, knowing that you were taking away its life and wanting its death to occur.”
What is shocking is that according to judicial authorities, Eirini Mourtzoukou attempted a total of four times to kill her second child:
“On 14-9-2023 in Kato Achaia and evening hours before 00:00 am within the house while you were alone with your minor female infant Maria Frederiki of unknown father you attempted to kill it, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) in a manner still unclear during the investigation, however you did not complete your act because your mother came and called the ambulance.”
“On 7-10-2023 at approximately 20:30 within a room of the Children’s Hospital ‘Agia Sophia’ in Athens where your aforementioned minor female infant Maria Frederiki was hospitalized you attempted to kill it, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) in a manner still unclear during the investigation, however you did not complete your act because the medical and nursing staff of the Hospital intervened.”
“On 9-10-2023 at approximately 18:00 and 22:00 within a room of the Children’s Hospital ‘Agia Sophia’ in Athens, where your aforementioned minor female infant Maria Frederiki was hospitalized you attempted to kill it, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) in a manner still unclear during the investigation, however you did not complete your act because the medical and nursing staff of the Hospital intervened.”
“On 12-10-2023 at approximately 20:30 within a room of the Children’s Hospital ‘Agia Sophia’ in Athens, where your aforementioned minor female infant Maria Frederiki was hospitalized, you attempted to kill it, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) in a manner still unclear during the investigation, however you did not complete your act because the medical and nursing staff of the Hospital intervened.”
As it appears, Eirini Mourtzoukou allegedly killed her second child during her fifth attempt:
“On 17-10-2023 at approximately 3:30 am, within a room of the Children’s Hospital ‘Agia Sophia’ in Athens, where your aforementioned minor female infant Maria Frederiki was hospitalized, you killed the aforementioned minor female infant, completely blocking the airways (nose and mouth) causing hypoxia with asphyxic hypoxic mechanism, from which as the sole active cause its death occurred, knowing that you were taking away its life and wanting its death to occur.”
As mentioned on the show, the magistrate’s reasoning emphasizes that “serious indications of the defendant’s guilt” emerge, concluding: “The arrest of the aforementioned defendant is deemed absolutely necessary, in order to be brought before us.”
