Red Sea: Timeline of the attack on the Greek-owned vessel
Everything happened on Monday afternoon, while the ship was sailing 50 nautical miles off the coast of Hodeidah, Yemen.
Houthi rebels attacked using small, manned speedboats that surrounded the vessel and opened fire against it. Subsequently, explosions occurred in the engine room.
The ship remains immobilized and has experienced water ingress.
The tragic aspect is that although they attempted to abandon the ship, they were unable to do so as the life-saving equipment has been destroyed.
Furthermore, a nearby cargo vessel that approached within 5 nautical miles was forced to withdraw as the rebels remain in the area and opened fire again.
