Athens suburb murder: Where authorities are focusing their investigation
According to sources, the 43-year-old University of California Berkeley professor had never been involved with authorities before, nor did he appear to have any disputes in Greece. Therefore, investigations are focusing on the victim’s close friends and family circle.
It should be noted that at the time of the murder, the Polish professor was heading to his ex-wife’s house – a Greek economist he had met in America and with whom he had 10-year-old twin boys – to take the children for a walk. However, the manner of his killing suggests a professional execution.
It’s worth mentioning that the professor’s arrival in Greece was related to the need to appear in court regarding communication arrangements with his children.
Timeline of the Athens suburb murder
The Polish professor’s life was cut short while he was walking on Eirinis Street to meet his children. The perpetrator, wearing a mask, approached the victim, fired at least five shots, and according to witnesses, left the scene on foot.
Police eventually managed to identify the victim using the keys he had on him, as well as information from his ex-wife, who learned that he hadn’t met with the children, read the news about the murder in the area, and contacted authorities to report his disappearance.
