The relatives of the five women who died after an explosion and fire at the «Violanta» factory in Trikala remain devastated. Today (29/01) Stavroula Boukouvala, aged 47 and mother of three children, was buried in Karditsa. Her son Angelos spoke to Mega television, expressing his outrage at the injustice his family has endured. Following the funeral service, he stated that his mother “did everything for us.”

“What can I say about my mother… It wasn’t her fate to leave so young in such an unjust and violent way. Her fate was to live until old age, but as I understand it, certain others intervened and stole from us what we had and deserved,” Stavroula’s son told Live News.
He continued: “My mother was everything to me, she was my support. We talked every day multiple times, we had good communication, good relationships. They essentially stole a part of myself. She did everything for us. She went to that place which proved to be a third-world crater. And there, unfortunately, she died in an unjust and violent way. The company itself is responsible, the company’s representative, the building’s engineer, and other officials who signed off on the building’s condition.”
“She had spoken about the work environment. My mother didn’t say too much, she did everything for us. She wasn’t satisfied with her job and the senior staff – the supervisors weren’t suitable people to run a business, most of them weren’t qualified,” he added.
“My mother went there so we could live, study, and move forward”
“Essentially chaos prevailed there. Exhaustion, care for employees – none. What can I tell you… My mother went there only so we could live, study, and move forward. I told her to resign and find something better, and she would say ‘what will you do?’ and I would answer ‘don’t worry about us, just be well.’ Obviously I couldn’t imagine we would reach this point – I was talking about physical and mental exhaustion. I didn’t expect that she would be blown up inside a mushroom cloud and burn for hours at 1,000 degrees. I feel she gives me strength to do my part so that those responsible are punished. Until then, none of us will rest. These serious-looking people, the ‘models’ who proved to be third-world without any care for employees. No one will stop, especially me, until those who are to blame go to prison,” Angelos said.
