“An intervention vehicle, a rescue vehicle, a fire truck, two complete SMURD crews and a multiple casualty transport vehicle (ATPVM) immediately rushed to the accident area,” reports the local emergency service ISU Timis, as broadcast by Radio România Timișoara. “Six dead were identified at the scene of the accident. At the same time, three other people are receiving medical care and will be transferred to the hospital,” the service adds.
According to local media reports, the first police investigations show that a man was driving a minibus from Caransebeș municipality towards Lugoj and at some point allegedly attempted to overtake. In an attempt to return to his lane, he hit a tanker truck and then collided with a truck, which was moving in opposite traffic, according to authorities.

The timeline of the tragic accident
In the small bus, which was coming from Greece and heading to France, 10 people were traveling, although it had a capacity of 8+1 seats. Timis police announced that, according to initial evidence from the accident scene, a man was driving the small bus from Caransebeș city to Lugoj and at some point attempted to overtake. “During his attempt to return to his traffic lane, he touched a tanker truck and then collided with a TIR-type truck, which was moving in the opposite direction,” police clarified.
