The teacher involved in the serious incident of gagging and taping a 13-year-old student at a school in Serres is being placed on administrative leave, as officially announced by the Ministry of Education. According to the announcement, starting Monday, January 26, the teacher will be suspended from duties, as provided by the current institutional framework, until the case is fully investigated.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Sofia Zacharaki has demanded clear and documented explanations for the failure to timely and institutionally inform the relevant ministry services and the Regional Education Directorate by the responsible Education Director. As emphasized, this issue is being examined as a particularly serious administrative omission within the framework of prescribed procedures.
By order of the Ministry’s Secretary General, Giannis Papadomarkakis, the Regional Education Director has been called to immediately proceed with conducting a Sworn Administrative Investigation (EDE), which will concern all involved persons and entities, without any exception. The investigation aims to fully examine the actions, omissions and potential responsibilities, as well as clarify every aspect of the incident that has caused intense social and educational concern.
