A brief “break” of milder conditions will mark the weather in the coming hours, as the scenario is expected to change again, with rainfall making a comeback in several regions of the country.

The phenomena are not expected to have the intensity of previous days, while the severe cold will gradually subside, with temperatures showing a slight rise. Nevertheless, winter remains active and from Sunday a new deterioration is signaled.
Weather – Marousakis: “Wintry return”
As meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis explains, a new barometric low is moving from the west towards the eastern Mediterranean and is expected to affect the country from Sunday evening until Monday, for a period of approximately 48 hours.
At its beginning, the storm wave will manifest with light to moderate rainfall. However, from Sunday afternoon, mainly in western and northwestern Greece, the phenomena will intensify and during the night will gradually extend to the entire country, moving from west to east.
Mr. Marousakis also notes that this year’s winter period is developing more “smoothly” compared to previous years, where intense phenomena appeared suddenly and with short duration. This more stable behavior of weather systems, as he emphasizes, works beneficially for addressing water scarcity, as it allows better water absorption.
Of particular interest are the data he presented on rainfall volume over a 30-year period. In 1998, in the Hellinikon area, approximately 152 tons of water per acre were recorded, while in 2021, in Patissia, the corresponding volume reached 147 tons per acre, confirming the dynamics of recent weather episodes.
