A serious case of attempted rape and revenge pornography is engaging authorities in Heraklion, Crete, following the arrest of a 27-year-old man after a complaint filed by a 22-year-old woman.
According to information, the two young people met online and maintained communication, during which the accused allegedly threatened the 22-year-old with her nude photos. Under the weight of these threats, he asked her to meet in person and the young woman agreed.
From attempted rape to leaked photos
During the meeting, the 27-year-old allegedly attempted to rape her. The 22-year-old resisted and managed to get away from the scene, preventing the worst from happening.
Shortly after, according to the complaint, the accused sent explicit photos to a friend of the young woman, proceeding with an act of revenge pornography.
The complaint and the arrest
The 22-year-old immediately informed her parents about both the incident and her online acquaintance with the 27-year-old. On Wednesday, accompanied by her family, she went to the Heraklion police headquarters and officially reported what had happened.
Officers from the Heraklion Crime Investigation and Detection Sub-directorate located and arrested the 27-year-old, against whom charges were filed for attempted rape and revenge pornography. The arrested man is expected to be brought before the Heraklion prosecutor.
