The mobilization was pre-announced following the completion of last week’s three-day strike. SATA is reiterating the sector’s basic demands while expressing opposition to regulations included in the draft law on taxis.
Additionally, SATA is calling on professional drivers to participate in a rally to be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:00 AM at the Peristeri Exhibition Center. There, detailed information about the draft legislation under discussion will be presented, along with the sector’s next moves.
SATA’s announcement for the taxi strike beginning today, Tuesday January 20
“Colleagues, the leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport chooses once again the path of opacity, devaluation and confrontation with the taxi sector. Our demands:
Electrification – No to violent transition.
Clear framework for Taxi work – Private vehicles with driver.
Unfair competition – Lawlessness of multinationals.
Access for loaded taxis to Special Traffic Lanes (Bus lanes).
Taxation – End to presumptive tax raids.
Patchwork legislation
The Transport Ministry doesn’t listen, doesn’t discuss, doesn’t correct. It simply lies – It simply imposes
Strike mobilizations of Attica taxis are the only path of resistance against:
the devaluation of the profession,
the hastiness of legislation,
the political arrogance that considers taxi drivers as given and silent.
Taxis don’t stay silent – Taxis respond
We call on all colleagues, owners, drivers, operators, investors, and merchants to give a massive, militant, decisive “present”:
On Tuesday January 20, 2025 at 10 AM at the Peristeri Exhibition Center.
Information on the draft law
There will be presented:
the actual points of the leaked draft bill,
its impact on the sector,
the next militant moves.
This is not the time for complacency.
This is not the time for illusions.
It’s time for unity, presence and voice.
Those who think they can decide about taxis behind closed doors will find us in front of them.
The struggle is everyone’s responsibility
No one absent
No one a spectator.”
