Extensive property damage was caused by a 24-year-old driver who was involved in a car accident dragging 15 vehicles early Friday morning (16/01) in Thessaloniki. Fortunately, the damage was only material and no human lives were endangered. The 24-year-old and her passengers are also in good health. According to OPEN information, the 24-year-old lost control of her car, crashed into multiple vehicles and a kiosk, ending up in a shop window.

Police found that the young woman, who fortunately was not seriously injured, was intoxicated and arrest procedures were initiated. The accident was recorded around 5 AM at the intersection of Papafi and Botsari streets, in a very central area of eastern Thessaloniki.

The mother of the 24-year-old spoke about the accident her daughter caused. In statements to journalists, she denied that her daughter was drunk and claimed that the gas pedal got stuck. She stated: “My daughter had gone out with three friends, like all young people do. She wasn’t drunk as they say, she had consumed the equivalent of two beers. It was an unlucky moment. My daughter claims the gas pedal stuck and she couldn’t control it. This will be revealed by the expert examination.”
“Fortunately there were no casualties. My daughter and her friends were very scared, but thankfully everyone is fine and there were no victims,” emphasized the girl’s mother. The prosecutor has charged her with dangerous driving as a misdemeanor.
The shocking video footage captures the moment the 24-year-old caused the traffic accident, dragging 15 cars. The video clearly shows the moment the driver lost control of her vehicle, causing damage to a shop, a kiosk, and 15 cars within seconds. One driver whose vehicle was hit in the collision said he learned about it from the media. “We saw it on TV. The car was destroyed,” he said.
Traffic police are recording the property damage to the parked vehicles. Three other girls were passengers in the car driven by the 24-year-old. All individuals are in good health. The young woman was arrested and charged with dangerous driving as a misdemeanor.
