The 54-year-old father accused of raping and abusing his two daughters in Messara, Crete was remanded in custody with the agreement of the investigator and prosecutor. The 54-year-old arrived at the Heraklion courthouse on Monday morning (12/01) at 11 am with a strong police presence and completed his testimony shortly after 1 pm. **He claimed he was innocent**, however these claims did not convince the investigator and prosecutor, who decided on his pre-trial detention.
Messara, Crete: 54-year-old accused of sexually abusing his children imprisoned
According to reports, the defense formally requested DNA testing, with the accused strongly claiming that the results will prove his innocence, both regarding the 24-year-old’s baby and the rape charges against him.
It should be noted that last Friday the 42-year-old mother, who was charged with assault, gave her testimony. The mother was released with conditions including a ban on leaving the country, reporting to police, and staying away from her children.
Sexual, physical and psychological abuse of the girls
The case file created by Heraklion Security describes the sexual, physical and psychological abuse of the girls. Additionally, reference is made to other individuals allegedly connected to the case, who have not yet been identified.
Based on new evidence from the investigation and case file, from the **testimony of the 23-year-old brother of the two women** –the minor and the 24-year-old– it emerges that his 24-year-old sister informed him on the afternoon of January 5th that the father of the child she gave birth to on 14/7/2025 is their father, while she had falsely claimed it was a Pakistani national named Ali. Additionally, she revealed that the same afternoon, their minor sister confided that from age 13, their father had been committing sexual acts against her.
The **24-year-old in her testimony stated that her father**, at unspecified times, made sexual gestures toward her. She also testified that during their cohabitation, he verbally abused and assaulted both her and her minor sister. Finally, she reported that their mother also physically abused her during the same period.
In turn, the minor daughter of the family, speaking to police in the presence of an expert, reported that her father, at unspecified times from 2024 to 24/12/2025, while she was under his protection, committed sexual acts against her without her consent. She also mentioned physical abuse she allegedly suffered from her father. According to reports, the minor also mentioned a man named “Michalis” who engaged in sexual acts with her consent, without providing more details about his identity.
The wife of the two women’s brother also gave testimony to police, stating she witnessed threats and verbal abuse from the father toward his two daughters. Additionally, she reported being present when the girls confided about the systematic abuse they had suffered during the last period of two years, while confirming that the older daughter stated that the father of the child she gave birth to on 14/7/2025 at Venizeleio Hospital in Heraklion is their father. Furthermore, the case file mentions a recording device that was found and confiscated, which has two cameras. As determined, it was capturing and transmitting images from public, non-domestic spaces.
Laboratory tests necessary
According to reports, police consider it appropriate to obtain genetic material from the girls’ father to conduct laboratory – comparative tests to verify paternity of the baby born to his daughter. The baby, as reported, remained in the hospital immediately after birth under the protection of the relevant social service.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the case file also contains preliminary investigation material gathered by Phaistos Police Station following a prosecutor’s order to investigate similar allegations against both parents.
