Three women were arrested on Saturday afternoon, January 10, by the Narcotics Division at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” while attempting to export a large quantity of cannabis to Italy by air. Police arrested three foreign nationals aged 29, 33, and 37, members of an international criminal group involved in exporting cannabis (skunk) to Italy via air transport.
According to police, as part of targeted controls to prevent drug trafficking, following proper exploitation of information and after verification, cross-referencing, data analysis and profiling, the suspects were identified as they were about to depart by air from Greece to Italy.

The Narcotics Division of the Organized Crime Unit arrested three foreign nationals (aged 29, 33 and 37) at noon yesterday, Saturday January 10, 2026, at Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos”. The suspects were members of an international criminal group operating in the export of cannabis (skunk) to Italy via air transport.
Specifically, within the framework of targeted controls to prevent drug trafficking, following proper exploitation of information and after verification, cross-referencing, data analysis and profiling, the accused were identified as they were about to depart by air from Greece to Italy.
During the inspection of their luggage, authorities seized a total of 72 kilograms and 700 grams of raw hydroponic cannabis (skunk) hidden in plastic packages inside their bags.
Additionally, three mobile phones were found and confiscated.
The arrested individuals have been referred to the competent prosecutorial authority.
