Representatives from farming blockades across Greece are currently convening at the Nikaia Cultural Center to decide their next steps. The main objective of the nationwide meeting is to select representatives who will attend a scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis next Tuesday, January 13th in Athens. Most blockade groups are arriving with a “yes” proposal for the meeting, but also “yes” to escalation if they leave the Prime Minister’s office unsatisfied.

Traffic diverted on Thessaloniki-Athens national highway at Katerini
Meanwhile, due to farmer protests, traffic has been temporarily suspended on the Thessaloniki-Athens National Highway from the northern overpass junction of Katerini (km 438) to the southern overpass junction of Katerini (km 434) in the direction toward Athens. Vehicles traveling to Athens are being diverted either from the northern overpass toward Katerini’s ring road, or via the old Thessaloniki-Katerini national road (Mouson Street), to rejoin the National Highway at Katerini’s southern overpass junction.
The Pieria Police Department advises drivers to follow traffic police instructions and drive with increased caution on alternative routes, as emphasized in today’s related announcement.
