Arrested in Samos, following a related warrant, a 47-year-old accused of, among other charges, fraud and money laundering from criminal activity (professional and continuous). According to information released, at least 27 cases of fraud were solved, committed during the period 2009 to September 2025, against citizens in Samos, Naxos, Nafplio, Patras, Larissa, Kalymnos, Arta and various areas of Attica. This followed a multi-month preliminary investigation by the Crime Detection and Investigation Sub-Directorate of Samos, under the guidance and supervision of the Samos Court Prosecutor’s Office, which utilized evidence and data from testimonies and special investigative acts, as well as findings from digital evidence, following a complaint filed against the accused in July 2025 for counterfeiting.
How the 47-year-old arrested in Samos operated
As emerged from the investigation evidence, the 47-year-old, impersonating on various occasions a police officer, Interpol agent, Ministry of Finance employee, Greek Parliament employee, Independent Administrative Authority employee (among others) and falsely claiming alleged connections with persons holding positions of recognized prestige, defrauded citizens through various pretexts, illegally obtaining financial benefit exceeding €440,000. Additionally, the accused is involved in at least three cases of citizen blackmail, aimed either at discouraging them from reporting his illegal activity to competent authorities, or preventing further claims for monetary amounts taken from them. In searches conducted in the presence of a judicial officer at houses where the 47-year-old resides in Samos, various documents relating to electronic payments and transactions of the arrested person were found and confiscated.
The felony criminal case file also includes charges of counterfeiting, false testimony, theft, blackmail, as well as violation of personal data protection legislation, while in the framework of investigating these cases, the involvement of seven more individuals, accomplices of the 47-year-old, was identified.
